Ave Romans,
Wow, it’s been a while, huh? I haven’t posted to the Romans site in what feels like a lifetime.
You might be thinking, “Who is this guy?” I figure I should re-introduce myself before I delve into the reason for this post’s creation, which is merely intended to update you all on a recent change we made to the Romans leadership.
I am Smurf, otherwise known as Papa Smurf. I properly began my army career back in 2017, first briefly with the Underground Mafias Army, and later Romans that same year (2017-2018, to be exact). I later joined the Army of Club Penguin in 2019, assisting in its first CPPS generation as a moderator, and went on to revive Romans at around this time. I could get into more details, but I will spare them for you guys.
Newer generations have since sprung up. In more recent years, I have taken a much more hands-off and “behind the scenes” involvement in Romans. This army means a lot to me as I grew up with it, and it has given me a home away from home.
Since Games and Dj have retired, I decided to become more involved about a week ago as Consul. Despite my incredibly busy schedule as a full-time university student, I have enjoyed getting to know the new members and mentoring them when time allows. We have noted numerous issues with this current generation for which we are currently making plans to improve. So that should explain why I am here!
Okay, now that my needless introduction is out of the way, let us address the current Romans leadership.
Over the past week, the leadership team has been discussing how to ensure Romans remains active, resilient, and communicative as we move into this next stage of this generation’s development. One of our Legates, YellowTyper, has been inactive for some time despite multiple attempts to reach out. We have attempted to get a hold of him for days now, and have sent numerous messages in our leaders channel, giving him multiple chances to fulfill his role as a leader—of all of which he has failed to take advantage. We discussed it at length in private, and after long-awaited deliberation, we decided to adjust his position.
On October 28 @ 1:22 AM Eastern, YellowTyper was moved from the rank of Legate (1ic) to Prefect (3ic). Prefect also comes with its own responsibilities, and if YellowTyper wished to maintain this rank, he would have to show a willingness to become involved and prove that he can handle them. Unfortunately, the same day we reached this decision, YellowTyper made an appearance where he discovered his demotion, and left the Romans server—and thereby the rank of Prefect, as well—at 2:47 PM Eastern. We reached out to him to make sure everything was alright, and let him know that he would be welcome to return for the rank of Prefect should he decide to take up the opportunity.
The reason we reached this conclusion was not due to YellowTyper‘s inactivity itself, but rather his lack of communication with the rest of the leadership. Effective communication and consistent participation are necessary for any community’s success, and every leader plays an integral role in maintaining that foundation. In failing to communicate that he would be inactive for nearly a week, he left his fellow Legates unsure of how to proceed with their scheduled operations, particularly those that YellowTyper had planned himself.
As we move forward together, proper communication will be essential in strengthening our community. Legates—alongside Senators and Officers—will be expected to communicate their ideas, decisions, and concerns with the rest of the leadership in order to remain well-organized. Failure to do so will result in demotion.
In other news, an article was recently published to the CP Army League site titled: Yellow Typer Couped, Lawless Returns to Romans Leadership. This was after we had told the CP Army League that we would explain the decision in a post that would come out shortly. It should be noted that we did not coup YellowTyper. A coup is when someone without leadership authority seizes it from someone who does and removes the leadership authority of the previous holder who they seized it from. This was a removal from leadership, not a coup. Say you came back to Romans as Legate after your hiatus and removed YellowTyper from leadership—that would be a coup, for example. Moreover, Twitchy and I reserve the permission to remove someone from leadership. This was a collective decision we came to after carefully considering it with the Romans leadership.
Thanks for reading,
— Papa Smurf
